                             AALL ANNUAL MEETING UPDATE

Workshop #4, "Speaking Up & Speaking Out: Developing Publicity and
Media Relations Skills" (full day) has an exciting new addition to
the cast of Presenters!

Susan Silk, founder of the Media Strategy Training Center and award
winning journalist and trainer, has agreed to join the faculty.
Susan has been performing media relations activities and conducting
trainins on behalf of ALA and state library associations nationwide
for the past four years. She worked with the other presenters,
Mary Carr and Barbara Greever, to devleop this trianing program
geared specidically to helping librarians develop the skills
necessary to meet the challenges of communicating their message to
the media, whether the "media" is the publication arm of your own
organization, or the print, radio, or television resource for your
local, state, or national audience. For more information, contact

KCLL@wln.com. Registration Deadline for this workshop is June 1,
1994.

Workshop #2, "Active Learning Techniques: The Alternative to Law
Library Instruction as Usual" has spaces remaining. Registration
deadline is June 1, 1994.

Workshop #3, "Cataloging Workshop: The Condensed Version," (1/2
day) has spaces remaining. Registration deadline is June 1, 1994.

Workshop #5, "The 'Changing Environments' of Legal Research:
Providing Reference Assistnace in Non-Legal Disciplines," (full
day) has spaces remaining.

Worshop #1, "Internet for the Novice" and Workshop #6, "Advanced
Internet for the Initiated," are fully subscribed. Waiting lists
are being maintained.

Workshop information may be found on pp. 24 - 27 of the Preliminary
Program. To register, see the Registration Form on pp. 33 - 34 of
the Preliminary Program.

CONELL will be held on Saturday, July 9, 1994. Participation in
CONELL is by pre-registration only. Some Spaces remain; please
submit your registration by the deadline, June 1, 1994.

1994 AALL Summer Institutes

A limited number of spaces remain in the "Basic Legal Reference
Services" institute which will be held in Portland, Oregon, July 5
- 8. Call Phyllis Fahrer (312/939-4770 x 30) to determine
availability.

"Transnational Legal Transactions", the Third in the Series:
Training the Next Generation of Foreign and International Law
Librarians, University of Washington, July 5 - 8 also has some
