Hi all-
A recent event made me wonder. Is it fair use to request
a fax of an article from a newsletter. The fax would be
for the librarian to use in making a decision about whether
to purchase a book reviewed in the article. We have
subscribed to the newsletter in the past and will
consider doing so in the future.
I guess my question is really whether it is OK to request,
for library use, a book review to be used in assessing future
purchasing.
The last thing we would want to do is step on any publisher's
toes. It seems to me that because of the nature of the use
an infringement may be a possibility.
What do you all think. Should we, or more correctly, me, be
more careful in our free exchange of ideas and materials? Am
I making a mountain out of a molehill?
Thanks folks,
Brian-
