Folks:
Cornell has mounted an experimental archive of Law-Lib traffic on
its Gopher server. The archive was begun a week ago, and is
full-text searchable.
If are accessing the Internet via LAN or other TCP/IP connection
(that is, are not using a proxy machine via dialup connection) we
recommend that you acquire one of the versions of the Gopher
client software via FTP from boombox.micro.umn.edu. Versions are
available for the Mac, PC, VAX/VMS, and VM/CMS (although honestly
I don't think that anyone's chances of installing the VM/CMS
client without substantial help from a systems programmer are
very good). The Mac and PC clients are extremely easy to install
and configure. The Cornell Law School Gopher is located at
128.253.108.7 (begbick.law.cornell.edu) port 70.
If you are using a proxy machine, you can telnet to 128.253.108.7
(begbick.law.cornell.edu) and login as gopher. We frankly prefer
that you use the Gopher client if at all possible since it
substantially reduces the load on our machine.
The server, and the archive, are being run on an experimental
basis, and I would certainly welcome your feedback.
Regards,
Tb.
