> Thanks to those who have responded to the request for the source
of the quote concerning Theodore Roosevelt. I have another quote
for which we need a cite. Edward H. "Bull" Warren of Harvard Law
School reportedly (according to legend) said to the first year
class, "Look to your left. Look to your right. Only one of you
will be here two years from now." Any written reference to this
quote would be sufficient. Thanks in advance.

W. Barton Leach wrote a memorial to Edward Henry "Bull" Warren in
the Harvard Law Review:
"Look Well to the Right..."
"...When the Class of 1924, of which I was a member, entered
the Law School, Pound was away for a year and Warren was
Acting Dean. It was to us, on the Wednesday of the first week
of school, and in the Harvard Union, that he delivered that
so-called 'Address of Welcome' which went, 'Look well to the
right of you, look well to the left of you, for one of you
three won't be here next year. Ours is the policy of the Open
Door.'..."

Hope this helps.
