laws of Australia

Butterworth and Law Book Co. are both publishing an
Encyclopedia of Australian law . We are trying to decide
which set to get.

Butterworth's Halsbury's Laws of Australia is planned to be in 30
vols, at about $ 384 per volume. It will be the successor to
the Australian commentary to Halsbury's Laws of England.

Law Book Co's Laws of Australia is planned to be in 35 vols, at about
$225 per volume (the charter price in early 1991 was $ 185 per
volume and the publication schedule was for the whole set to be
completed in 1991). This would be much cheaper than the other one.

I understand that both sets have well-known authors and are
considered to be of a high quality. I am not sure why the publishers
think that there is enough of a market for two encyclopedias.

I would like to hear which set other libraries are getting. Thanks
for your advice.
