Re collecting casebooks:
We purchase new items on the law school's textbook list each
semester. These materials are put in an open shelf reserve area and
circulate to other parts of the library for 3 hours. We have no
restrictions on who may use these books, but I can't remember a
non-law student ever asking for one.
We feel it is important to have course texts available in the
library as we are a commuter campus. The average driving distance
for our students is 20 miles, so forgetting a book at home is a
big problem. Also, the bookstore doesn't always get enough books
or they don't come in on time. If the book is available at
the library, at least they can start doing the readings before
their copy arrives.
