As to why the LegalTrac printout is so user unfriendly, I expect
that it has to do with the tapes MDC receives from IAC.
MDC has always been nervous about editing other people's data, that
is why you sometimes get four screens of party's names in a class
action.
May it also have something to do with discouraging people from
downloading records and creating their own database? If the
data is in too usable a form it becomes easy to manipulate
huge numbers of records for one's own ends in violation of copyright.
My problem with WESTLAW is the way the cites for PLI materials
are displayed. It is impossible to tell which is the chapter and
which is the book title.
