There was posting about COILL yesterday on the Canadian Academic Law
Libraries List (CALL-L@UNBVM1.BITNET). The following excerpt is reproduced
with permission of the original poster:
COILL is a group of academic and research libraries that have gotten
together to make electronic imaging technology available in a law library
setting. It aims to be a source for member institutions to receive
information on electronic imaging technology applications; as a clearing
house sharing information on their activities; to assess copyright and
problems; as a forum to discuss projects too large for a single institution;
etc. They plan to produce a newsletter (COILL Newsletter) and a Report
(COILL Report on Imaging Technology for Law Libraries, which will be kept
current on an annual basis).
Several members of COILL have expressed an interest in working on Human
Rights material. COILL is collaborating with the Law Library of Congress in
the development of a foreign gazettes project. A more detailed description
of the plan for the gazette project is available from the Executive Director.
COILL is an Ohio non-profit corporation owned by its member
institutions. Each member institution may nominate one person as its
representative. Full membership is limited to academic law libraries. There
are associate members also.
