I have had this kind of request and have attempted to fill it.
Most academic libraries are not staffed or equipped to drop everything
for the average attorney. Its hard enough to do it for the Dean or
a senior faculty member.
If you decide to provide such service you better set the prices so
that you can justify the costs to your institution and your primary
patron groups.
Some libraries set up special reference services and market them
specifically to outside users (Columbia & Lewis and Clark).
