In response to Lois O'Brien's question regarding how many medical librarians
hold MD's: Although I specialized in medical librarianship in library
school, have attended MLA conventions, and also have worked in a
medical library, I have never met a medical librarian with an MD and an MLS.
I am aware of several who have nursing degrees or PhD's in fields other than
librarianship, however. Many medical librarians, though certainly not all,
have an undergraduate science background.
