There are indeed a group of people that are looking at the question of
serial and continuation statistics and the ABA definitions with an eye
toward clarification. Speaking from one of the instigating Library's
this did indeed come up as we converted our kardex records to the online
environment. My understanding is that draft language is being exchanged
by members of the Statistics Committee and that it is expected that a
recommendation will be sent to the AALL Executive Board for discussion
in a fairly timely fashion.
