I'd like to second Jim Mumm's suggestion that we talk about what the ABA statis
tics are really supposed to count. I recall that when we went to successive en
try cataloging from latest entry, there was quite a bit of discussion about whe
ther we were counting collection size or cataloging activity in our local stati
stics. Though we probably need to count both those things, it would be nice if
there were a general agreement on methods, so we could come up with some meani
ngfull statistics, instead of the seat-of-the-pants kind of thing we deal with
now.
