Subject: RE: Moore's update
The $2,600 fixed deal is interesting but does not solve the problem.
The price is still way out of line. And so is the amount of filing.
My rep suggested that at some time in the future, law libraries might
be given the option of purchasing one annual update at the end of the
year that contained all the updates throughout the year. The one annual
update would be interfiled so that you would only have to file one
rather large update. And it would come at a lower price than the fixed
price continuous updating deal. No idea on how much sooner. To my mind
this is a much better solution because it addresses two problems -- the
high cost of keeping Bender publications up to date and the additional
cost in labor to file continuously. It would allow customers to disagree
with Bender concerning how frequently it is appropriate to update a title.
Or put more positively, it would allow satisfy the needs of different
customers who have different opinions on how frequently updating is
warranted. Lets tell Bender we want this approach.

P.S. I opted for the free fill and fixed price deal for this year, but
I don't intend to keep Moore's on continuous updating. We will probably
buy a max fill every other year or so.
