Purchasing CD-ROMs

Jim Mumm's question about the Matthew Bender CD-ROMs got me
thinking: We have very few CD-ROM products (basically LegalTrac,
Wilsondisc ILP, and a bunch of GPO stuff) because we do not have
a network to put them on. CD-ROMs seem to be of limited
usefulness if, as here, we would have to install them on one of
the two stand-alone PCs with a CD-ROM drive (one station for
LegalTrac and other miscellaneous things, another near the
Documents office for the GPO stuff).

CD-ROMs in this environment are relatively inaccessible, because
only one person at a time can use only one database at a time;
and while that database is in use, the others cannot be used.

Does this seem like an accurate assessment of the situation? In
other words, is this yet another reason to install a LAN?
