TITLE: Assistant Librarian for Reference Services,
with appropriate academic rank.
DEPARTMENT: Law Library
RESPONSIBILITIES
AND DUTIES: This position has primary responsibility for
providing reference services to faculty,
students, staff and alumni. Specific
responsibilities include direct reference
service at the reference desk, assistance in
the use of LEXIS/NEXIS, WESTLAW and other on-
line services, co-ordination of LEXIS/NEXIS
and WESTLAW training, bibliographic
instruction for library users and law
classes, participation in book selection,
preparation of bibliographies and other in-
house materials and participation in law
school and university activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. from an A.B.A. accredited law school and
M.L.S. from an A.L.A. accredited library
science school. In addition, the successful
applicant must demonstrate the following
personal characteristics: initiative, good
judgment, ability to communicate well,
excellent interpersonal skills and a desire
to improve legal education through provision
of high-quality library services and
bibliographic instruction.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Tenure-track, 12-month appointment.
EMPLOYMENT DATE: Available immediately.
COMPENSATION: Salary and rank dependant on experience and
qualifications. Fringe benefits include

dependents attending Ohio Northern University
for an initial degree.
THE UNIVERSITY: Ohio Northern University is a co-educational,
residential university of 2,800 students
which is related to the United Methodist
Church. The five colleges of University are
Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy,
Business Administration, and Law. The
University is located 15 miles east of Lima
and approximately 1! hours driving distance
from Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.
THE LIBRARY: The Taggart Law Library is a modern legal
collection serving over 400 law students and
22 full-time faculty. Our collection
contains over 225,000 volumes or equivalents
as well as on-line data bases, compact discs
and audiovisual materials. Library processes
have been completely automated by the
installation of all Innovative Interfaces
modules and a Local Area Network for both the
Law Library and the Law College. A building
expansion project is planned for the near
future. The Law Library staff consists of 4
professional librarians and 7 support staff.
