NOTICE TO WESTPAC MEMBERS ON THE UPCOMING SILVER ANNIVERSARY MEETING
IN HONOLULU, OCT. 22-24.
Pres. Frank Herch has agreed to extend the registration deadline to
Sept. 30. If you haven't sent in your forms yet, please do so as soon
as possible.
The program promises to be special and includes sessions on advocacy
for law librarians, survey of technological developments, Pacific Rim
resources and native Hawaiian claims. Our local speakers include:
Karen Peacock, UH Pacific Collection curator, and local attys. Roy
Chikamoto and Fred Hall who all have first-hand knowledge on acquiring
Pacific Rim materials; UH Law School profs. David Callies and
Williamson Chang who have been directly involved respectively in land
tenure and water rights issues and Melodie McKenzie, editor of "Native
Hawaiian Rights Handbook"; and UH Library School prof. Peter Jasco who
is authoring a book on CD-ROM applications for technical services.
