I hate to sound ungracious, but I could really live without the thank
yous on the list. It seems that thank yous would be most appropriate
to send to the individual(s) who responded. If it's something that we
all are interested in, the response should be posted to the list along
with the thank you, but for things like ILL requests, etc. I think the
thank yous to the list are usually unnecessary clutter. There's always
exceptions, of course.
I know I'm not the only one that feels this way because it has come up
several times in conversation with other librarians who have also said
they'd prefer not to see all the thank yous.
