Mixed Media artist Dennis Evans has been commissioned to create
public art to be incorporated into the King County Law Library's new
branch facility in Kent, Washington. Though no definitive design decisions
have been made, Evans--and the KCLL staff--are particularly intrigued by
the possibility of using shelf end panels as both independent works of art
and as elements of a larger design. To this end, he has asked us to
provide him with terminology, textual references, and any other "ideas"
which might help him understand how law libraries and the legal research
process function within the justice system. Evans often uses text
excerpts and other language symbols in his work.
The KCLL staff would like to invite you to submit any ideas you
may have along these lines as well. Your suggestions will be incorporated
with our own and submitted as an inspirational tool for the artist.
Please reply to me directly by Oct. 5.
