I had previously posted a message about the increasing coss of the
Canadian Case Citations. (When we purchased the set last year Carsell was
not able to give us a price for 1994's updates and now we find that the
annual updating for this set will be over $1200.) Marla Sterritt,
librarian with Davies Ward & Beck in Toronto replied to my message
sympathizing with our problems in getting pricing policies and
publication plans for the various components of the Canadian
Abridgement. Marla is also a member of the advisory board of this
publication and will gladly take any and all comments to the advisory
board and pass them on to the publisher. Their next board meeting is
scheduled for Oct. 3, 1994.

The response from my Carswell rep. to my complaint, as well as the letter
that accompanied the annual supplements (10 soft cover pamplets), kept
referring to the number of pages of information that we were receiving in
the annual supplement and what a great value they considered it to be.
My comment that we pay a great deal for quarterly supps. and what is
contained in the annual supps. is basically a recompilation of
information that we had already paid for was not addressed.
If you have an opinon on any of this, please use this opportunity to let
Carswell hear from you.
I hear there is a new service called CanCite which will hopefully give
Carswell some competition. Can anyone tell me about CanCite? Are you
using it? Is it reliable?
