The Alaska Court System is seeking candidates for the newly-created
position of Computer Services Librarian.
The Computer Services Librarian will join the professional staff at the
Anchorage Law Library, which is the administrative headquarters for the
Alaska Court Libraries, and consists of 17 branches serving court
personnel, attorneys and public patrons throughout Alaska. There are
currently 5 librarians, 2 full-time support staff and 5 part-time staff in
Anchorage. There are also 2 full-time library assistants and 4 part-time
library assistants elsewhere in the state.
The Computer Services Librarian is responsible for the design,
installation and management of the library's local area network, which
will provide access to electronic resources including CD-ROM, online
services and the Internet. The Computer Services Librarian shares
computer systems administration with the Technical Services Librarian,
reference responsibilities with the Public Services and Collection
Development librarians, and collection management responsibilities with
all professional staff.
REQUIREMENTS: M.L.S. or comparable degree from an ALA accredited school;
demonstrated experience with IBM-compatible operating systems,
applications and hardware; demonstrated experience with LAN hardware,
software, installation and maintenance; reference experience, preferably
law library experience; public service orientation; and problem-solving
ability.
SALARY: $32,952 - $35,328 D.O.E.
