I've sent factums and other legal documents to clients using Procomm. The
documents were in ASCII and I sent them directly to the client's computer
while talking to the client on the telephone, instructing them on how to
receive the data (they were also using Procomm).

No fuss, no muss, no security or maintenance issues.
