Access to California Bills Update

I just spoke to Senator Bowen's office about how California plans to
implement the new law (A.B. 1624, 1993 Cal. Stats., ch. 1235) that just
passed on allowing Internet access to California legislation and codes.
They don't have any written material explaining it yet but here's what I
was told over the phone:

End of December - the State will release an Internet address

Jan. 1, 1994 - You will be able to e-mail a request for a bill or any of
the documents that are available. You should also be able to
e-mail a search in to the computer (i.e., send me all the bills
on workers compensation). I asked if there was any limit to the
number of e-mail requests and she said no.

March 1994 - FTP access will be available.

The system is apparently being set up by state workers and "some private
folks" who wrote the software. I can't believe that the State is moving
this fast but I think that's probably due in large part to the "private
folks" (Jim Warren?). If anyone has anymore info, please let me know.

Thanks!
