Hello Law-Libbers,

I am looking for *empirical* studies concerning the impact of advertising
on a person's selection of a professional to work on that person's
behalf and on the reputation that the public has for the profession as a
whole and for individual practitioners.

For lawyers in particular, I am interested in any empirical evidence
that show that lawyer advertising has an influence on the
decision-making process of jurors who may have seen the advertising of
one or more of the lawyers involved in the case.

Some of the questions I am looking to answer include whether advertising
by professionals

1. has an effect on the public's perception of the reputation of a
professional who advertises

2. is perceived as misleading or deceiving

3. has an effect on the fair and equal delivery of services to the
public

I have tried a number of
resources so far including Wilson's BPI, HI, SSI along with ABI Inform among
others. Unfortunately I do not have access to Lexis/Nexis.

Does anyone know if such studies have been done? Thank you in advance
for any assistance you can provide. Please respond directly to me and
not the list as I am not a subscriber to Law-Lib.

Rod
