Regarding: RE>MASTER'S PROGRAMS
We've had a program for about 40 years. This year, we have 45 students
from 22 countries. They take 24 hours of courses. One 2- or 3- credit
course is mandatory, "Perspectives of American Legal Systems;" two other
"perspectives" courses, in tax and business organizations, are elective.
Otherwise, the students take JD courses, usually including Contracts.
They usually take a number of international courses, most often IBT.

There is a publication called Employer's Guide to Law Schools published
by the National Ass'n for Law Placement (ISBN 1-55733-000-X).
This lists schools with various the various Masters programs, most of
which seem to cater to foreign students. I hope this is of some use to
you.

Regarding: Master's programs for foreign lawyers
I am glad to report that UTLaw has the type program you asked
about. I will quote from our 1995 Bulletin:
The Graduate (LLM) Program for Foreign Lawyers and Law Students
The international atmosphere at the Law School is enhanced by the
existence of a graduate program for foreign lawyers and a visiting student
program for law students from several overseas law schools. Each year,
students come to Austin from around the world to continue their studies at
the Law School.
The Law School offers a Master of Laws (LLM) degree for foreign
graduates.
Admission requirements include a law degree with distinction from a
foreign
university and a minimum score of 600 of the TOEFL exam. (Candidates for
the LLM program are not required to take the LSAT). To obtain an LLM
degree, students must complete a total of twenty-four (24) semester hours
of
credit at the Law School (including a thesis approved by a Graduate Studies
Committee). The application deadline for the LLM program is March 1. To
obtain an LLM packet and application, write to:

Regarding: RE>MASTER'S PROGRAMS
We have such an LLM program. There are, I think, 10 students in the
program this year, in about its third year of existence. If you contact
our Admissions office, they can send you some information.
I am sending you by separate e-mail a very short summary from our gopher.

Howard University's School of Law has a Masters in Comparative Jurisprudence for Foreign Lawyers. I'm not sure of the details, but I Know it has about 20 students annually. If you want more detail, email me, and I'll dig up a description of the program.
Additionally, I know that American University's Law School has a very similar program.

Just wanted to let you know that The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA offers an LLM degree specifically designed for graduate of foreign law schools. We used to offer a Masters in Comparative Law, which was designed for graduates of foreign law schools. In about 1992, we changed the degree to an LLM, but it is basically the same curriculum, just a different degree name. If you need more specific information on this degree program, please contact me directly.
