Even more detailed instructions fro access CA Supreme Court opinions
through the Judicial Council BBS. (from an upcoming article in
California Lawyer magazine.)

Opinions are kept active for 30 days for the Supreme Court and
the six courts of appeal. You also can get rulings the day they are
issued, Supreme Court calendar and minutes, press releases.
Administrative Office of the Court events, trial court coordination
information, job announcements and comments by lawyers.
The Judicial Council prefers that you register prior to using
the system, but it's not necessary. You must request and return a
completed application to register, and you will be sent communications
software, instructions and a user name. However, commercial
communications software like Procomm Plus, Crosstalk and a host of
others work fine with public access without a user name, while the
Judicial Council's software has some problems. You can get a
registration application by calling Adrienne Deluke at 415/396-9277.
Or you can reach directly into the BBS by dialing 415/904-9454.
If trash characters appear on the screen (&%CC#$$), press the ALT and B
keys simultaneously until the Welcome greeting and Login prompt appear.
Type public at the Login prompt and press the Enter or Return key. You
will be treated to a series of notices about the BBS and court opinions.
Press Enter to move along to the Terminal Type prompt. Type ansi, and
press Enter. The AOC Information System notice will appear. Press Enter
to get to the Main Menu.
The Main Menu will be hightlighted. Move the highlight to the
category you want using the arrow keys, then press Enter. Selecting
either of the first two options will give you a menu of the Supreme
court and six appellate courts. Select the court you want using the
arrow keys, and press Enter. A list of cases will appear, if there are
any. Across the top of the screen are three options - display, print and
shrink. The meaning of the first two are evident, but shrink is the
command you use to return to the previous menu. Highlight any of the
three words using the arrow keys, then press Enter.
To return to the Main Menu, select Shrink (or Shrink_Outline in
some screens) and press Enter.
