Karen {et al.}---
You can gopher to gopher sluvca.slu.edu then select
menu options in this order: library services / slu law library
services / internet training and access info / {then just
pick and choose appropriate menu choices from this listing
that have to do with FTP, Telnet, etc.} --- I recommend
reading Milles' Introduction to Using the Interenet... which
is the first menu choice}. This is for online reading. You
may want to also consider requesting the purchase of some
Internet books for you and your clients.
There are many, many other gopher sites that allow
you to read about Internet searching and retrieval tools
with definitions and tips. I don't think you need a listserv
to do what you are asking. Another great site for
lots of info is to gopher riceinfo.rice.edu then you just
start digging into the menus looking for Internet resources
and tools. Try telnetting to info.umd.edu {then choice the
menu choices in this order} access to other information
information resources / internet resources {then select
the area/s in which you're most interested.
At your own system prompt, try typing gopher then
press enter... to see if your own University has put in
some info on Internet browsing, etc.
Good luck. Have fun. You will need to devote
extra time in your work or life to get on the Internet
to explore its many useful resources.
I hope this helps.
