citation controversy

I am troubled by the A.A.L.L. Executive Board's Resolution of 5 November 1994.
The citation controversy is very complicated. Many viewpoints have hit the
press and are traveling the networks. To this end, the A.A.L.L. appointed a
Taskforce on Citation Format to study the issues stated in various proposals
and review implications of different changes. These proposed changes could
have dramatic impacts on the way we do legal research. I have not seen a
report from the Taskforce. Has the Executive Board issued its statement prior
to receiving the recommendations and report of the Taskforce? If so, why?
Perhaps the Taskforce will not recommend items 1 and 2 of the Resolution.
Should we not wait for a Taskforce report? Is the Board taking a political
position? Additionally, where are the reports and recommendations of our
Washington Area Representative? Is this office to lobby for general legal
bibliographic principles, or what?
