Mr. Koster has valid points in his last posting. One I'd like to
highlight is the "patchwork of citations" he referred to if we moved away
from the West National Reporter. One need only look at welter of
nominative citations that abounded pre-National Reporter. I use the
tables in the 1953 "Effective Legal Research" by Price & Bitner. It is
most bewildering. For a system that never had the cohesiveness of the
National Reporter System one need only look at the case reporting from
England and the UK. It's all nominative, with two or three names, and
truly difficult to work with.
