>>> "issue #2 - "Is suspect, as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately,

the integrity of all librarians & other professionals who use the
west citation system as being suspect of SOMETHING? Please be
more specific and if you are accusing us of being co-opted - then
go right ahead and say so- rather than insuniating! I am highly
offended by your suggestion. Jay Farris <<<
You misunderstood what I wrote. If I understand you correctly, you
interpreted my comment as an indictment of any law librarian who uses the
West citation system. I meant to imply that because West pays many benefits
to law librarians in the form of consultancies, editorial boards, all
expense paid trips to their facilities in St. Paul, lavish parties at annual
meetings, and even the paid visits to the TAP meeting that has become so
controversial, many librarians have some self interest in not looking at West
with too critical an eye. I do it too. It is hard to be critical of West
when they host you and subsidize you, and West knows it, and that's one good
reason why they do it--it's good business. I think this implication was
clear to those who receive those perks. It was my deliberate choice not to
be too direct about this rather than beat people up like so many flames have
done.
