<I have followed with both consternation and amusement the exchanges on legal
<citation. I would just like to make a couple of observations:
<1. West's responses have been self serving and secretive, as illustrated by
<Dorothy Molstad's non-responses to most of Jamie Love's questions. It seems
<that a great deal of information that relates to the future of all legal
<resources are West business secrets. West's is telling us that our future
<is none of our business. They have lost a lot of good will by the way they
<have handled this.
<2. The credibility of anyone who speaks on this issue who is a recipient of
<West's largesse is suspect, as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, that
<includes many of us.
<3. I hope James Love does not presume to speak for the law library
<profession. He may be a consumer advocate, but he doesn't advocate for me.
<4. It would be very unfortunate if the AALL Task Force on Citation Forms
<were to allow the controversy to impede their work or to allow the opinions
<of TAP or West to influence it. I think we can trust them to make
<recommendations that are neutral, objective, and credible.

"issue #2 - "Is suspect, as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately,
that includes may of us" WHAT DO YOU MEAN? How dare you impune
the integrity of all librarians & other professionals who use the
west citation system as being suspect of SOMETHING? Please be
more specific and if you are accusing us of being co-opted - then
go right ahead and say so- rather than insuniating! I am highly
offended by your suggestion. Jay Farris
