LIBRARIAN II - TECHNICAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN

RESPONSIBILITY: Work with Library Director to formulate cataloging
priorities and procedures, to set goals and complete retrospective
conversion project and to implement automated book circulation
system and automation of everyday library tasks.
                                    
Responsible for cataloging materials in all formats, perform
original and copy cataloging, maintain database for online catalog,
perform online authority work, document cataloging procedures and
policies, complete retrospective conversion project, maintain
cataloging statistics for library collection, and act as a liaison
to bibliographic utility.

Work on all aspects of library automation, including training
patrons on use of public access terminals, coordinate staff
training for automated library tasks and knowledgeable about
Internet.

Learn to answer legal reference questions using all information
formats and share reference duties with other staff.
                                                        
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: ALA accredited MLS plus two or more years
professional cataloging experience. Significant experience with
bibliographic utility such as RLIN or OCLC, working with automated
library systems such as Dynix, experience with AACR2, LC
classification and subject headings, MARC format and indexing.
Demonstrated flexible attitude and ability to work well with both
public and staff. Knowledge of principles, trends and practice of
professional library work. Excellent oral and written
communication skills.
                                                                
PREFERRED: Professional cataloging experience in a Law Library
using RLIN or OCLC and integration with automated system such as
Dynix. Competence with computers and Internet. Ability to work
well with both staff and patrons. Evidence of professional
commitment.
