Pace University Law School in White Plains, NY, has an opening for a
Head of Cataloging in the Law Library, starting immediately. This
position requires an MLS, experience in cataloging and
classification, familiarity with serials and microform cataloging and
experience with automated library systems, preferably Innopac. The
position will require a person with excellent interpersonal skills
and ability to work as a team member with a variety of people.
Responsibilities include performing original cataloging using OCLC;
supervising cataloging and processing staff; assisting in planning
for future projects; maintenance of statistical reports; and training
of staff in use of automation. The Law Library uses OCLC for
cataloging and Innovative Interfaces for an OPAC shared with three
other Pace libraries and for serials control, circulation, and
acquisitions. A flexible, imaginative approach to new procedures and
the ability to cooperate with staff from other Pace libraries are
essential.
The position reports to the Head of Technical Services and supervises
a full-time cataloging assistant, a part-time cataloging and
processing assistant, and several student workers.
