Lexis, Freestyle

Dear fellow Law Librarians:

Last year I did research on Westlaw's WIN product. The article will
appear in the next issue of Law Library Journal, Volume 85, number 4.

I am interested in doing similar research about Lexis/Nexis new "natural
language" search tool Freestyle. I would then compare the two products.

Although the product is not yet available for mass distribution, I am
writing now because I would like to get as many responses from law
librarians as possible to include in my final paper. I believe what we
have to say as a collective whole on the topic is extremely important.
It was evident to me that the comments from law librarians included in my
paper were taken seriously.

I have seen some initial comments about FREESTYLE on the bulletin board.
I would greatly appreciate your reflections and notes on FREESTYLE as it
becomes avialable. I would like to have a larger sample group, with
possible queries run on FREESTYLE. Although my focus will be FREESTYLE
queries run on both systems will be helpful. I believe a comparison of
both products would be very helpful.

Thank you to everyone who particiapted in the WIN research. Thank you to
all of you who will participate in the FREESTYLE research. I am looking
forward to hearing from all of you once the product is available.

Sincerely,
