The Law Library, University of California, Davis is recruiting
for the following position:
Position: HEAD OF PUBLIC SERVICES,
Law Library, University of California,
Davis, California 95616
Responsibilities: The Head of Public Services is responsible for
the following functions: Reference, Circulation, Interlibrary
Loan, Documents, Foreign and International Law, and Stack
Maintenance. The position supervises one librarian and 3 support
staff; and participates in program planning, problem solving, and
integration of technology in all phases of the Public Services
operation. The position staffs the reference office 8am-5pm
weekdays except Thursday 1pm-10pm, providing legal reference
assistance to students, faculty and other patrons. Additional
duties include participation in collection development
activities; administration of the LEXIS and WESTLAW on-line
services; and miscellaneous services as appropriate.
Qualifications: MLS required. JD and\or substantial
professional law library experience in reference\public service
work. Excellent communication skills, proven supervisory skills,
strong service orientation and interpersonal skills are
essential. Knowledge of foreign languages and experience with
foreign law collections is helpful.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, within
salary range, Librarian - $44,768-$65,340.
