Below is a message about a service offered at Northwestern Univ. for
INTERNET publishing of law and political science papers. I remind
every one that research oriented papers can also be placed on LAWLIB at
Washington & Lee.

Subject: Preprint archive for law and politics conference papers

I am pleased to announce the availability of an APSA sponsored preprint
archive for conference papers in the law and politics socio-legal research
field. To access it, use your gopher facility. When connected to your host
computer type gopher gopher.nwu.edu 71 At the main menu, choose "Electronic
Publications".

We are actively soliciting new submissions. Papers that are posted will be
kept available for a period of two years. Copyright remains with the
author. Posting should not affect publishability any more than making the
paper available at the conference at which it was presented; in other
disciplines, there has been no difficulty of that sort. Posting papers in
the archive will provide wide dissemination; in philosophy, for instance, a
similar archive is reported to be accessed several thousand times a month.

To submit a paper, send me an ASCII file of it. Be sure to place all notes
at the end as end-notes. You may submit papers by e-mail although I prefer
them on floppy disks. Using ASCII means that all graphics will need to be
stripped; you may indicate in a headnote where they may be obtained.

In the near future I hope that it will be possible to transmit files in
native formats using something like Adobe's Acrobat, but presently that
is not feasible.

If you have questions, please e-mail me at mzltov@nwu.edu. Herbert Jacob
