                ***ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, LAW LIBRARY***
Position summary: The Associate Director of the Law Library reports to the
Director of the Law Library and assists in various functions of library
administration. This includes budgeting, planning, personnel supervision and
teaching. In the absence of the Director, this individual will assume
responsibility of the library.
Characteristic duties: Assists the Director in day-to-day administration and
long term planning; Assists with budget planning, preparation, and monitoring
of ongoin expenditures; Assists with personnel administration, including
performance evaluations, performance plans, and promotions; Coordinates inter-
departmental activities; Assists in the preparation of textual and statistical
reports; Participates in reviewing and/or creating library policies and
procedures, and provides guidance to faculty, staff, students, and other patrons
in the application or interpretation of those policies; Acts as a liaison to the
National Energy-Environmental Law and Policy Institute and develops collection
development policies in energy and environmental law; Teaches in the Legal
Authorities first year course and could possibly develop speciality lectures
in some other upper-class courses; Occasionally provides advice to the librarian
overseeing library copyright issues; Oversees gifts to the library.
Minimum qualifications: A Master's in Library Science and a Juris Doctor from
an accredited program; three to five years professional law library experience,
including experience in administrative, personnel and fiscal responsibilities,
previous teaching experience; a broad knowledge of library functions; and
excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications: Previous work experience in an academic law library.
