UPDATE: a Southern California Newspaper, issue 593 (May 5, 1993) has a story
about a gift to the Univ. of Southern California Law
Center which will fund scholarships to support Gay and Lesbian law students
who plan to use their legal skills to support equal rights for Gay men and
Lesbians. The scholarship fund is named in memory of Alan Holoch, a USC
Law Center graduate and former faculty member. The gift of $250,000
was created by a friend of Alan's, Richard E. Fairbanks, Jr. The first
scholarships will be awarded in the fall of 1993.
Alan got his MSLS degree from USC in 1971, and received his JD at USC in
1978. He worked on the staff of the USC Law Center until 1982 when he
was appointed the Dir. of the Law Library at Villanova Univ. School of Law.
In 1987 he was appointed Director of the Law Library at Ohio State, and was
there until his death from cancer in 1991.
