PRESIDENT'S REMARKS AT PHOTO OP WITH THE GOV. OF HONG KONG (5/3) --
President Clinton responded to press questions on the Bosnian
situation. The President's remarks covered: the Serbian Assembly,
discussions with Secretary Christopher, support for the United
Nations effort concerning Bosnia, Vance-Owen, outlook on U.S.
military intervention, and cooperation from allies. The President
also responded to questions regarding proposals on China by
Governor of Hong Kong Chris Patten.

Heritage Awareness Month. Upcoming events included the
President's weekly radio address to the nation on May 8, and the
July annual G-7 Economic Summit in Tokyo, Japan.

National Security Advisor Anthony Lake's remarks before the
Brookings Africa Forum in Washington, D.C., focused on global
changes in world affairs in addition to issues facing the

term peace and democracy for the continent, individual and
minority rights, the continent's movement toward market economies
and sustainable development, Africa's environmental and human
resource needs, and U.S. support in each of these areas.--

Press Secretary issued President Clinton's proclamation of
May 1993 as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. The President

the principles of inclusion, mutual respect, and social justice.
