I much prefer leasing LegalTrac equipment. The main frustration
we had a few years ago when we used our own was the keyboard.
Leased equipment has colored keys labeled with their functions.
Our users aren't sophisticated enough to figure out a template.
Service is much faster on leased equipment because they can
ship things overnight. Our media services unit is so overworked
it takes forever to get things repaired.
The big disadvantage is of course cost.
We have solved this whole dilemma by leasing the tapes to load
on our OPAC. It is in test now, we hope to have it running by
the end of June.
