I know that the Indiana University-Bloomington Law Library
has such an arrangement. Contact Linda Fariss, Associate Director
for more details. At IU there are still some materials on closed
reserve in addition to those on open reserve. A separate security
gate is used there as well. Unbound periodicals are also kept in
the open reserve area. To the best of my knowledge, no additional
staffing was required at IU to operate this area. Both study
tables and photocopiers were available for patrons using this
area of the library.
