Open Reserve

In connection with our upcoming extensive library renovation, we are very
interested in creating an open reserve area where patrons can look at
reserve materials on open shelves and read or photocopy the
materials within a designated area. Have any other academic law
libraries tried the open reserve concept? We would be interested in your
experiences. What is the best way to design such an area? Have you
experienced security problems? Do you feel the need to keep some
materials in a closed reserve section? Is keeping unbound periodicals
in an open area feasible? What kind of staffing, if any, is necessary
for open reserve?

I will summarize responses for the list.
