Regarding Federal Judicial Center's REFERENCE MANUAL ON SCIENTIFIC
EVIDENCE, subscribers to CBC's Federal Rules of Evidence will
automatically receive FJC's publication at the total cost of $52.12.
We sure did, in addition to the West's copies.
I placed a quick phone call to the Federal Judicial Center, to find
out how we can obtain a copy from them. Unfortunately, we can't
purchase it from the Center; but, they quickly informed me of all the
legal publishers that are making it available to subscribers of their
products.
Besides West and CBC, FJC informed me that Matthew Bender will be
supplying it to subscribers of Weinstein's EVIDENCE and Moore's
FEDERAL PRACTICE. (I verified this information with M. Bender. Only
they will be supplying it "free of charge" to current subscribers.)
FJC also mentioned that Lawyer's Coop. will also be supplying the
manual, but did not mention with which product. It will be
interesting to see how LCP will be handling it. Will they supply it
unsolicited and charge us for it?
So, if one subscribes to all of the above titles, like we do, that's
how many copies of the Reference Manual that will be received. This
shipment of "unsolicited related volumes" is sure getting out of
hand. I sure wish the legal publishers would stop this practice.
