What follows is foment from an apparently idle mind but... Last
year some wise and genrous soul set up a listserv for the Seattle meeting
of AALL called Seattle-94 (I think). It struck me as a good idea. One
hopes that someoen will do the same again for Pittsburgh.
I wonder if it would be a good idea to set up a permanent AALL
meeting listserv. This would allow communication about meeting topics
(from "need a topic/speaker" to "need a roommate") on a permanent basis
at a consistent place. AALL members could subscribe and unsubscribe as
their interest and plans to attend change. Such a list would probably
remain relatively quiet through parts of the year and heat up just before
and after the meeting. Those who attend regulary could simply remain
subscribed.
Not having the resources to do this myself, I am obviously
suggesting work for others. Still, I thought I would pass on the idea.
