For such a figure to have any meaning it would have to be by age,
earnings and earning capacity both prior to and following the injury,
education, health prior to the injury, medical expenses following the
injury, life expectancy pior to the injury and following the injury.
These are a few of the factors which must be considered in the valuation
process. It really does not matter too much if the injury is from an auto
accident or a malpractice case, the economic loss would be the same. It
is true there may be some difference in the amount for pain and suffering
or hedonic damages when it involves medical malpractice, but the specific
case facts are so different that the figures published by type of case
are not worth much.
