We get asked this question all the time, but as far as I know there is no
great official tally sheet of reversal rates for individual district
judges. The closest I have seen are statistics from the "Federal Judicial
Workload Statistics" counting the terminations (reversals, dismissals,
remands) of cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeals. BUT it only gives you
grand totals for all cases in the circuit, nothing for individual
judges, or even the district.
The only time I've seen this information broken down to the individual
district judge happened a number of years ago when a local legal
newspaper reporter from the S.F. Recorder wrote a story about the
district court judges' reversal rates.
They got their statistics by running Lexis and Westlaw searches
and counting cases.
