We just finished LEXIS and WESTLAW training for first year
students. Training was done by LEXIS and WESTLAW personnel.
This year, for the first time, the students have expressed
wholesale dissatisfaction with the training. Their complaints
are that the training was too basic - they felt the training was
designed for computer-illiterate attorneys. Two hours were
alloted for the sessions and the trainers seemed to be trying
to finish as fast as they could - some sessions lasted only an
hour and fifteen minutes.
We have a small professional staff and doing the training ourselves
seems like a formidable task. Are other schools dissatisfied also?
We intend to discuss these concerns with our account reps, but I'd
like to have a feel for whether or not others feel the same way.
