Position Title: Librarian
Job Status: Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00, non-exempt
Reports To: Director of Library Information Services
Job Summary:
Provides research and reference services for the firm's attorneys, staff
and clients, using print and online resources; coordinates the development
and marketing of the internal Research Bank; maintains several database
resources; provides training and support in research and library use
techniques, including CALR; and maintains and develops information
resources and the library collection.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides both quick reference and in-depth research services; accesses
legal and non-legal bibliographic and full-text databases; coordinates
interlibrary loans; provides research for business development activities;
performs automated cite-checking searches; prepares legislative histories
and bibliographies; and monitors legislation.
Coordinates all aspects of obtaining and entering documents for the
Research Bank for the Seattle, Anchorage, Mt. Vernon and Olympia offices;
develops and provides training for ISYS search software, used to access
the Research Bank; coordinates with Portland office to develop a firm-wide
Research Bank.
Provides training and assistance to attorneys and staff in use of the
library collection and both in-house and commercial databases; prepares
training materials, including users' guide, library map, newsletter
articles and research guides.
Skills Sought:
Working knowledge of the U.S. legal system and related legal materials;
working knowledge of federal and state legislative process; computer
searching ability in a variety of database systems, including Westlaw,
Lexis, Dialog, Datatimes, Dow Jones, Legi-Slate, WLN, Dun & Bradstreet,
and EPIC; experience with other microcomputer applications; excellent oral
and written communications skills; ability to work independently and to
handle a diverse and demanding workload.
Education and Experience Required:
ALA-accredited MLS, plus minimum of two years experience. Prefer
experience in a law library.
