I just received my copy and it looks real sharp! So of course, I want more
stuff in it. In the "Related Organizations" section, the American Society of
International Law (ASIL) is omitted (they publish a journal and the wonderful
periodical, _International Legal Materials_), and several foreign law
librarians belong to it and attend its meetings. There's also the
International Assocation of Law Libraries (now with a President in
Hungary--Katalin Balazs-Veredy, Library of the Hungarian Parliament--
instead of Chicago, Illinois--the former President, Adolf
Sprudzs, University of Chicago Law School, D'Angelo Law Library),
but the IALL Secretary, Roberta Shaffer, is at Covington & Burling law
library in Washington, D.C.).
I was glad to see some foreign law library associations included, but there's
more, for instance, the German Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Juristisches
Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen (Roberta can be contacted for
info about other foreign law library associations not in the _AALL
Directory & Handbook_).
These with phone and fax numbers (and e-mail addresses if available) would
help a lot with general global networking and establishment of international
connections that could help us with our work.
I hope someone at AALL HQ is reading this, otherwise if anyone knows the
exact person I should send this to, please let me know.
Thanks!
Lyo.
