Michelle Schmidt of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps in San Diego is
coordinating the effort of AALL and the Private Law Libraries SIS to promote
law librarians at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Legal
Administrators (ALA) in San Diego next month. This will be the third
consecutive year that law librarians have played a significant role at the
conference, including a program presentation by Mark Estes and Holley Moyer on
Friday, April 30. Michelle and her crew already have a number of things
planned for the Conference (including several clever giveaways and brochures
to pass out, but she has asked me to invite assistance from law librarians
around the country to make this the biggest splash yet.
In particular, Michelle is looking for brochures and other small giveaway
items from chapters and SISs. If there are any chapter presidents, SIS chairs,
or other appropriate officials from such groups reading this message, please
contact Michelle at 619/235-3577 as soon as possible with your offers of
assistance. Even if you're not sure how you can help, Michelle would like to
hear from you.She would also like brochures or library guides from law firm
librari es--these would be useful in alerting legal administrators as to what
they can expect in the way of services, etc., from their own librarians
(especially important for those firms who either do not have librarians or are
cutting back on staff). Finally, any librarians who are going to be attending
the Conference (o r in the area) are urged to help out at the booth in the
Exhibit Hall on April 27-29. Michelle needs volunteers! Call her.
Thanks for any help you can provide.--Frank (AALL PR Coordinator)
