RE: CD-ROM towers

We do not have any CD-ROM towers in the Schmid Law Library here in Lincoln
Nebraska, but our main campus library (called Love Library) has three towers
with 40 drives apiece. The brand name is Meridian, and the distributor
was Gandalf (although I am not sure about the spelling). Love says that
they have been really happy with the service provided by Meridian,
although some intitial drives were bad and needed to be replaced. By the
way, the three CD-ROM towers
provide CD-ROM access through our University of Nebraska system computerized
catalog, the Innovative Research Information System (IRIS). With IRIS, the
Schmid Law Library can tap into the CD-ROM towers at Love Library for a
number of items,
including ERIC, Silver Platter GPO, PsychLit, etc. The CD-ROM towers have
been reliable. They were 20,000 dollars apiece!!!!
